Students in Professor Maria Luskay’s Producing the Documentary class have traveled to Cuba, Brazil, Hawaii, Holland, Belize, Portugal, and Mexico in recent years to shoot documentaries that have been recognized at the Indie Short Film Competition, Best Shorts Film Festival, Media Communications Association—International Media Festival, and Accolade Global Film Competition.
Documentaries made by MCVA students are consistently nominated for awards.
Students can work with Mira Pantic, PhD on communications research projects that relate directly to their field of study. Pantic is a world-renowned scholar that helps students develop both quantitively and qualitative research studies.
You may be eligible to join the Mu Iota Chapter of Lambda Pi Eta (LPH), a student organization of the National Communication Association. The Media, Communications, and Visual Arts department (MCVA) hosts an annual networking event, Connections in Communications, to bring together professionals in the field with current undergraduate majors, a great way for you to make contacts in the communications industry.
